lateral_led_controller is a hardware interface that converts Art-Net, a network protocol for transmitting DMX data over network, into signals that drive addressable LEDs. it can be combined with mapping software (such as my artnet_led_mapper) to send arbitrary video onto an led strip canvas such as seen here:
